John Rood was named Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Business Development for DC Entertainment in February 2010. This announcement coincided with the naming of the new DCE executive team.

 

The company's mission is to prioritize DC Entertainment's assets across Warner Bros. and partner with all key WB divisions, including Theatrical, Consumer Products, Television, Interactive Entertainment, Digital Distribution, and Home Video. John's team managed DC Entertainment's recent launch into digital publishing, through deals with partners including Apple and Sony.

 

John returned to Warner Bros. after 10 years with the Disney ABC Television Group, where he most recently was Senior Vice President of Marketing for ABC Family. ABC Family enjoyed six consecutive seasons of record growth during his tenure, becoming the #1 cable channel with Females 12-34. He also consulted for ABC News, during the anchor transitions at Good Morning America and ABC World News with Diane Sawyer.

 

Prior to Disney, John worked for six years at Warner Bros. Consumer Products, negotiating promotional deals with national advertisers using WB properties including DC Entertainment characters. He has also worked in promotions for Equity Marketing on the Burger King account, and in advertising for Leo Burnett on the McDonald’s and Miller Brewing accounts.

 

John received his MBA from The University of Texas and his BA from The University of Nebraska.

 

John lives in Los Angeles with his wife Cindee and two sons, and is an active supporter of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
